Birmingham’s Oldest Pub to bring back its Guinness Village for St. Patrick’s Day – And This Time A Jameson’s Beer Garden Too.

Birmingham’s oldest Irish pub The Old Crown are bringing back their Guinness Village by popular demand in time for their annual week long St. Patrick’s Celebration.

Based in Deritend, Digbeth, the 650 year old pub will celebrate Birmingham’s booming Irish community, and its own Irish heritage, with seven events as part of Digbeth St. Pat’s Week. The pub will reopen it’s Guinness Village and Jameson’s Beer Garden, providing the perfect hang out spot and Irish drinks to go alongside this years programme.

The Old Crown’s St. Pat’s Week kicks off with a Jameson Irish Whiskey tasting course on Monday, 11th March, where guests can enjoy a two hour whiskey tasting session including Jameson’s Original, Caskmates Stout Caskmates IPA and Jameson Black Barrel with whiskey experts for free. Tuesday, 12th March will see a tour of Digbeth looking deep into its Irish history and heritage.

Award winning singer and “the sweetest voice in Ireland” Frances Black will be joined by a full live band on Wednesday, 13th March. Accredited with the prestigious award for Best Irish Female at the Irish Recorded Music Association Awards among other accolades, Frances Black took the world by storm with tracks such as ‘Wall of Tears’ and ‘After The Ball’ recorded with Irish band Arcady.

Birmingham football legends Paul McGrath and Steve Staunton will hold an exclusive talk on Thursday, 14th March, reminiscing about their career and explaining how they became some of the most high profile names in footballing history. These discussions are always highly anticipated, and there only 60 spaces left for this exclusive evening.

The celebrations continue into Friday, 15th March with a night dedicated to Fleetwood Mac. After selling out their Fleetwood Mac nights twice over at The Hare and Hounds, Vice City DJs will take over the Guinness Village with the greatest hits from the 1970s and 80s and, of course, plenty of Fleetwood Mac.

Finally, the weekend sees live Six Nations Sports coverage on giant screens on Saturday, 16th March, followed by live music from The Holy Show Band. Then on St. Patrick’s Day (Sunday, 17th March) The Old Crown will join the street parties and St. Patrick’s festivities with an all day party featuring Ash Sheehan, Ire-Ish, Hooley, James Reidy and a special DJ set from Birmingham band Peace.
