Cool Running: Hundreds of Santas Needed for Festive Dash

Acorns Children’s Hospice 30th birthday celebrations continue into the festive season with the return of the popular annual Acorns Santa Run next weekend.

The 5km or 2km dash at Aston University will see hundreds of people of all ages don their Santa outfits to raise money for Acorns and its vital work caring for life limited and life threatened children across the West Midlands.

Registration for the event on Saturday 8 December is open and includes free entry into the National Sealife Centre at Brindleyplace making it a great day out for families.

Sam Greatrex, Acorns Senior Events Officer, said: “Acorns Santa Run is a magical event and the perfect chance for people to support a great cause while soaking up the festive atmosphere.

We rely on fundraising events like this to raise the nearly £10 million we need each year to run our hospices. So why not the bring the family together for Santa Run and make it a full day out with a visit to the National Sealife Centre?

Loving mum Najma Sajid, whose 11-year-old daughter Tanisha receives care and support at Acorns in Birmingham, knows only too well what a difference money raised through the event makes to children and families.

Urging more people to sign up Najma said:

Please support Acorns and sign up for the Santa Run. Acorns helps so many families and mine is one of them.

Every penny counts – all the money raised goes to helping run Acorns and makes a massive difference to people’s lives, including mine. Without Acorns we’d be lost.

Registration for Acorns Santa Run is £15 for adults (over 16), £10 for children (aged 5-15) and free for children (four and under). Super Santas, who raise £100 or more will receive free entry to the event.

All entrants (aged five and above) will receive a free Santa suit and fundraising pack to help you jingle all the way to your target.
