The Rainbow Venues are a collection of alternative music venues based in the heartland of Digbeth and curated by Lee McDonald.
Many people will know of the Rainbow venues and think of large scale warehouse raves and dance music nights such as Below or FACE, but there is more to the Rainbow than booming sound-systems and techno gigs.
The pub acts more as a bar and is open to accompany the various gig nights which take place. The back courtyard attracts cool live music nights from Birmingham Promoters & co, with DJs in the pub and touring bands performing regularly in the covered courtyard. The atmosphere is fairly intimate while retaining that industrial warehouse feel with exposed brick walls and steel girders.
For the hardened clubber there is the Rainbow Warehouse and Textile Factory with techno and electro style DJ nights, with performances from all the top dance acts around the world, from cutting edge names to European and U.S. legends.
Summer parties are held in their rooftop Mezzanine event space with Cellar Door going underground for the musical vibe. For major events the adjacent street is closed off to enable full scale raves.
In all, the Rainbow has picked up the gauntlet from where the Custard Factory left off some years ago, creating a post industrial vibe which lends itself well to the style of music events which take place.
Checkout their sister venues, The Arena (of Circo Loco rave fame) and Spotlight/Next Door, which both host regular DJ nights as well as Digbeth Dining Club every Friday evening.
