The Rebel Chicken is situated in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter near to the main Metro stop.
Set out over two levels, downstairs is taken up with a bar and a modern rustic seating area with a backdrop of chilled out jazzy vibes.
Upstairs you will find a slightly American diner feel with a cool twist (you can’t miss the huge buffalo head above the stairs). There is ample seating with plenty of natural light.
Rebel Chicken do one thing and they do it well, Chicken. They steam it, marinade it and we finish it on a bespoke built charcoal rotisserie.
The coal is imported from Cuba and the wood is Sweet Cherry, this makes the chicken succulent and charred to perfection. There is no where else like this in Birmingham.
To accompany the food, there’s a wide range craft beer, spirits and wine. Outside, the beer garden seats 120 and gets the sun all day and inside the restaurant can seat 40. It’s worth noting that the beer garden is having a makeover and will be partially covered for intimate events with outdoor heating for the colder months.
The menu includes quarter, half or whole chicken, Rebel Wraps (crispy buttermilk chicken goujons with cheese, slaw, crispy red onions, Cos lettuce & aioli, served in a wholemeal wrap with chips), Rebel Wings (mountain of buffalo wings coated in homemade signature sauces), Dirt Bird (melt in the mouth buttermilk chicken served with chips), Yard Burger (buttermilk chicken stacked in a burger served with chips), Not For Me (freshly made falafel served in a charcoal grilled pitta with spicy salsa and salad).
Rebel Chicken use only the finest cuts of 28 day aged Chuck Steak & Short-Rib mince to create the Burgers, all of the meat comes from outdoor reared, grass fed cattle. Brioche Buns are delivered daily from Peel & Stone’s bakery where they are hand made fresh each day and the chicken for the burgers come from a butchers within the Bullring indoor food market.
In all, if you are a fan of chicken, this place is a must!
