Ocho, a new pop-up Mediterranean dining experience to open in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter

Ocho is a brand-new pop-up dining experience coming to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, serving up a carefully curated tapas menu inspired by Portuguese and Spanish family recipes.

The a la carte menu comprises of light authentic dishes from around the Spanish and Portuguese Coast, made using fresh locally sourced produce with seasonal specials added regularly.

Head Chef Tomek Iwanicki (formerly of Purnells), was inspired from his time spent in the Mediterranean, as well as being influenced by the home-cooking of his father.

Ocho comprises of eight key components including sun blushed tomatoes, smoked chorizo and fragrant olive oil, creating a menu that is both elegant and contemporary, but most importantly to chef Tomek, retains that hearty, home-cooked feel. Ocho’s dishes are simple, stripped back to what matters: flavour.

Mouth-watering selections include Grilled Lemon Sardines, Beer Braised Pork Cheeks and Spicy Arrabiata Meatballs. The meatballs consist of handmade minced pork shoulder with a delicious spicy arrabiata sauce, creating a memorable dish that will keep you coming back. Sumptuous vegetarian options such as the Ocho vegetable stew, and stuffed butternut squash will have even the most ardent of carnivores considering ditching the meat.

Ocho opens to the public on Friday 30th November with limited capacity sittings available from 5pm, bookings via: info@ochojq.com
