Soul, ska, rock and roll and more this Easter at The Night Owl

What could be better than a long weekend off work? Maybe cramming it with rock and roll and Britpop tributes, brand new ska acts and the best soul DJs could swing it! The Night Owl in Digbeth, Birmingham, is the premier club for all music fans, and there’s something for everyone this Easter weekend.

Kicking things off on Thursday, April 18th is the free Karaoke party hosted by none other than Marina Coombes! You may know her as the stellar Amy Winehouse tribute, but on Easter Thursday she’ll be the Karaoke hostess with the most-est. Sing your heart out to soul and Karaoke classics and then drink and dance until late with a special secret comedy DJ act… ohm and it’s happy hour on the Karaoke night, £3 pints and £3 single spirits and mixer until 11pm.

Back by popular demand on Good Friday are The Strange Doors, infamously known as the best tribute to The Doors around. Let them take you back to the 60s by recreating the charismatic sights of Jim Morrison and the authentic sounds of The Doors. Here you will find ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), jazzy organ solos, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals. When the gig is done, stay for Dig? and dance all night to soul, rock and roll and more from DJs Richard Bamber and Richard Buckley.

Inject some ska into your Saturday on April 20th as brand new band Rude Six head to The Night Owl. This young, energetic ska and reggae outfit cover all the classics from Toots, The Specials and The Selecter as well as their own original tracks, catch them live followed by a ska-infused Dig? club night with DJs Steve Davis from The Ska 45’s and Mazzy Snape.

Last but by no means least, Easter Sunday sees the return of April Fools Gold by popular demand! Britpop and 90s indie band Britpop United will be providing the tunes, whilst DJs Sean Walsh (Resurrection) and Dom Cross (Come Together) will be playing Britpop, indie, 90s and more until late. With the weather set to be a scorcher, The Night Owl is the best place to drink and dance with their decorated beer garden and large wooden dance floor.
