The Hip Hop Colour Festival is an annual event that showcases the positivity of Hip-Hop culture outside at Level Digbeth’s courtyard, a converted Cash and Carry underground warehouse in Digbeth.

The festival promises to be like no other, with a multiple of colour powder throwing intervals and unique programming planned throughout the day.

Highlights include a Brooklyn inspired Street Food area, a Hip-Hop Heroes Poster Exhibition, Hip-Hop Retro TV Room screening 80’s and 90’s films, a Hip Hop Artist platform championing – – raw, local talent followed by The Big Apple Club Night.

Founder and Artistic Director, Sharnita K Athwal from Shaanti says:

We’re delighted to be producing the UK’s first Hip Hop Colour Festival. This festival will have an accessible and vibrant programme that embraces Hip Hop arts and music in a fun and interactive way.

We’re determined to showcase music by the legends of our nation, celebrate the pioneering legacy of Hip-Hop and present the new generation of local heroes, whilst engaging a wider range of people and creating memorable experiences in Birmingham’s amazing spaces.

The festival is a major force in its own right that will host tons of of colour powder throwing against a heavy backdrop of music from some the UK’s best Scratch and Hip Hop DJs.

But that’s not all, a multiple of activities include a Basketball Hoops pop-up Zone, Burn Rapper Burn – a MC-Rap Spit Challenge, if you dare a MC Hammer Dance Competition, Biggie or Tupac Game Show, plus more to be announced throughout the next coming months.

All we can say is to prepare for an almighty mess as you colour-bomb your pals with brightly coloured powder and get your vocal chords ready to belt out familiar tunes by the world’s greatest Hip Hop stars.
