Regency Wharf host 3 days of outdoor cinema with Flatpack’s

Regency Wharf is now the home of a dedicated outdoor event space: Rum Runner Yard, named in homage to the famous Rum Runner Club, formerly located on the site. 

Landlord Picton have partnered with event consultants Tek Studio to host a series of events between now and the end of 2016.

Regency Wharf occupies a prime location adjacent to the Hyatt hotel and the historic Gas Street Basin, and in close proximity to the ICC and Library of Birmingham. Rum Runner yard can be accessed from Broad street by the Hyatt’s ‘The Gentleman & Scholar Pub’ which is across the street from the ICC and the Library of Birmingham. Also between Soloman Cutler (Wetherspoon’s) and Walkabout and from the Canal side/Gas Street Basin.

The estate has continued to evolve under Picton’s ownership, with both Karaoke Box and Rub Smokehouse opening units there in recent years, and the launch of a dedicated outdoor entertainment space has been a logical progression given the rise of “pop-up” entertainment and street food culture. Modifications have been made to the yard space, Picton have appointed highly respected architects/designers GENSLER to help create an even more dynamic and creative event venue, so we can continue to enhance the built environment to ensure it can be utilised by any number of different operators, and Picton are keen to work with local, as well as national, operations to continue the estate’s “Celebration of Birmingham”. With a focus on Birmingham’s heritage.

6th October, As part of Birmingham On Film, Flatpack will celebrate the Brummie classic Take Me High featuring a young Cliff Richard and shot just on our doorstep in the Gas Street Basin. Original Patty Men will bring the film’s famous #Brumburger to life (incl in the ticket price)

7th October, Original Patty Men pick one of their favourites, TOTAL RECALL,  which celebrates its 25th Birthday this year, creating the event Arnie’s Appetiser, aimed for all those Arnie Fans out there or if you just love a 90s action classic. (burger incl in ticket price)

8th October, Flatpack will host a free family event showcasing children’s TV favourites from Birmingham including Brum and Rosie and Jim in Brum on Film: Family Edition. Perfect for families, the young at heart or pure nostalgics.

Rum Smokehouse will be providing delicious Pop-Corn for the events FREE of charge staying true to their unique menu with Bacon and Maple Syrup Pop-Corn and also Marshmallow Pop-Corn (V) as well as showcasing their new 2 for 1 cocktail menu.

It’s the sort of thing that could only happen in Birmingham. We wanted a solution that understood this context but was also relevant to the community today. The future vision builds on all this to make something new and something we see will be an icon of Broad St and Birmingham at large.”
