With lockdown restrictions having been eased over the course of the last few weeks, families across the UK have finally been given the ‘green light’ to re-unite. Knowing what it feels like to be apart, there is no doubt that you will be looking for ways to truly maximise all of the time that you spend together going forward. With that in mind, here is a guide to throwing the ultimate family get-together in Birmingham.
Organise private dining
You obviously want to make sure that everyone tucks into something tasty when they come over to visit – but does that have to mean slaving away in the kitchen for hours on end before they arrive? Definitely not.
There are several private dining companies in the UK specialising in mouth-watering catering for small get-togethers of eight people or less – the perfect solution for a little family reunion. Chefiesta is an excellent example of one of these private dining companies. It offers set six-course menus, with meaty, vegan, vegetarian, and mixed options available for a memorable gastronomic experience for all!
Set up the entertainment
You can expect the family event to include lots of conversation – you all have plenty to catch up on, after all. However, there is still an opportunity to set up something fun for everyone to enjoy. A great idea is to plan for a relaxed movie night. The guests can chat and eat for a few hours before settling down to savour a classic favourite or a new release that they have been dying to see. Don’t forget the popcorn!
Another, slightly more interactive and engaging idea for entertainment is to plan a competitive game night. Whip out all your board games and ask your family members to bring theirs along, too. You will have endless hours of fun and laughter – a wonderful opportunity to create a host of cherished memories.
Take lots of photos
Speaking of creating memories… be sure that you take action to capture them as well! If lockdown has taught the world anything, it is that family is what matters most. You just never know how long you might go without seeing your loved ones again, so make the most of every moment. Having photographs on which to look back on will certainly prove priceless in the many years to come.
Plan for safety
Unfortunately, even though family visits are now allowed (under certain conditions), the COVID threat is still real. It is still essential to practice strict hand hygiene and social distancing (at least 1m between each person), despite how much you will want to cuddle your loved ones. It is preferable for all guests to wear their face masks for maximum protection and to perhaps have a chat about the importance of upholding COVID safety precautions before everyone arrives so that you are all on the same page.
Wishing you many wondrous hours in the company of your friends and family. It is much needed during these uncertain times. Enjoy and stay safe!
