Park Regis Showcases Deafblind Active Exhibition

To celebrate Deafblind Awareness Week, the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham will host a photographic showcase of Sense’s work in sport. A supporter of Sense’s TouchBase Pears project, which will deliver a state of the art facility for deafblind people in the West Midlands, the Park Regis Hotel will display the Deafblind Active exhibition, which depicts 18 months’ worth of sports sessions run by Sense and funded by Sport England.

Running from the 28th June until the 5th July and free for the public to attend, the exhibition will be held in the newly built hotel’s exclusive Rofuto Bar, overlooking the city’s skyline.

Ian Carpenter, National Sports Manager at Sense, said:

Sense knows how important physical activity is for everyone, including deafblind people. Keeping fit and healthy are obvious benefits but a person can gain a whole range of social benefits, including increased self-confidence and the chance to make new friends.

To showcase our work, we are collaborating with the Park Regis Hotel to bring together a selection of photographs from our Sport England Funded Deafblind Active project, that have been taken over the last 18 months to show how important sport and activities are to our deafblind people.

We really hope people will enjoy the exhibition and seeing the exciting new programmes, such as swimming, rock climbing, rowing, football, that we’ve been able to deliver for deafblind people across London and the Midlands.
