Sunday Xpress at The Edge in Digbeth

Sunday Xpress – June 26 – Doghouse/Giant-Elf-Fist/Beyond the Summit/Hyaena Fierling/Dik Guru

Sunday Xpress returns to Friction Arts’ superb venue The Edge on June 26. Now in our tenth year, our June events always have an alternative Glastonbury edge to them, and plus we’re indoors and have a giant projector screen, disabled toilets and cups of tea and ales at a good price in glass bottles.

This year we’ve got the live debut of Doghouse, who some of you will as the lyricist and lead vocalism from Cardiff based techno/hip-hop/psychedelic mish-mash collective Sicknote (RIP). They will be headlining the evening at around half 9, but do have a look at our fantastic support acts…

Sunday Xpress favourites Giant-Elf-Fist are returning again with their Ash Ra Tempel freak-outs. Beyond the Summit from the DeBasement collective are also making their debut, as with visual noise artist Hyaena Fierling. Finally we have the pleasure of having the brilliant Dik Guru playing for us to start off the evenings entertainment at around 7pm.

There’s more though. Sunday Xpress is one of the longest-running open mics in Birmingham, and those proceedings, a mixture of poetry, spoken word, acoustic and quite a lot of other things you wouldn’t find in an open mic will start at 5pm. We have live Spotify and ITunes playlists stuck through the PA too (!) and projections via YouTube to rest your eyes on.

Your compere as always is the Yardley Bard, Big Brendan Higgins, the unofficial poet laureate of Birmingham since 2000 when he’s not out shopping shopping shopping.

All FREE as well. You can find The Edge on Cheapside in Digbeth. Come along!
