Symphony Hall 25th anniversary Fun Day!

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Symphony Hall will throw open its doors and throw out the rule book and invite you to explore Birmingham’s iconic Hall like never before, on Sunday 12 June from 11.00 – 21.00.

With an internationally acclaimed Hall, six dressing rooms, five bars, four floors and one massive outdoor loading bay, Symphony Hall is offering the chance to explore all of the unusual and previously unseen spaces for a 25th birthday party befitting Birmingham’s much loved music venue, on Sunday 12 June.

Join in a fun-filled day of FREE performances, entertainment and special appearances with opportunities to learn and take part.

Taking place throughout the day from 11.00 – 21.00, every corner of Symphony Hall will be bustling with musical delights. The foyers will be open to families and people of all ages to come along and take part in interactive music making, demonstrations of music technology, workshops, sound installations and backstage tours.

Officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 12th June 1991, every aspect of Symphony Hall, from its interior design, to its shape and dimensions, down to the materials used for the surfaces and the seat coverings, gives the hall its unparalleled and renowned acoustic perfection. As part of the open day, guests can take part in a discovery trail around the hall and its foyers, inside the reverberation chamber, through the back of the grand organ and discover first-hand what makes this space so outstanding.

For the first time ever, Symphony Hall will be using its dock and loading bay loading bay as an innovative open-air music space, hosting its unique Musical Picnic in the access bay off Broad Street with views overlooking the canals and Brindley Place.

Key highlights include the Pilgrimage Party, budding musicians can stand and perform on the same stage as world-famous artists including Sir Simon Rattle and Tom Jones from 13.15 – 15.00. If you play an instrument, bring it along and learn our Birthday tune along with acclaimed jazz band, Young Pilgrims – suitable for all ages, any instrument, any level.

Further highlights include internationally acclaimed DJ and World Loopstation Champion, Shlomo, on the main stage between 18.15 – 19.15pm for a beatboxing masterclass.

Symphony Hall invites familiar faces and new comers alike to come along and experience the hall and musical spaces like never before in a full day of free music for all the family!
