What The Ladybird Heard – Live On Stage!

See Julia Donaldson’s farmyard adventure brought to life at Town Hall Birmingham this Christmas!

Based on the award winning children’s book, What the Ladybird Heard will be performed at Town Hall from Tuesday 27 December 2016 until Wednesday 11 January 2017, with a specially adapted relaxed performance on Sunday 8 January.

Set against the backdrop of Birmingham’s historical Town Hall, audiences are invited to join the woolly sheep, the hairy hog, the fat red hen and the ladybird in this stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks’ colourful adventure for all the family.

Brought to life by children’s theatre specialists, Kenny Wax, this fun filled adaptation is directed by the acclaimed Matthew Gregory and will feature catchy live music, puppetry, plenty of audience participation and lots of laughs – plus a glittering treat for all the family!

Written by one of the most loved children’s authors of this generation, Julia Donaldson, and illustrated by Lydia Monks, What the Ladybird Heard is a story of two crafty robbers, one tiny ladybird and a whole farmyard of fun! Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len have a plan to steal the farmer’s fine prize cow. But they reckon without the tiniest, quietest creature of all: The Ladybird has a plan of her own!

Chris Proctor, Programme Manager at Town Hall Symphony Hall, said:

We are thrilled to have such an entertaining and imaginative production as part of our family offering at THSH this Christmas.

This will be a great opportunity to introduce younger audiences to theatre, some for the very first time – and what better time than during the festive season! We have no doubts it will be packed with fun for all the family.”

Our specially curated relaxed performance is supported by Autism West Midlands and is designed for people with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, a learning disability or sensory and communication disorder.

The performance is produced by KENNY WAX whose Laurence Olivier Awards include: The Play That Goes Wrong, Top Hat and Once on This Island. His Olivier nominated shows for family audiences include: Hetty Feather, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Tall Stories’ production of Room on the Broom.

What the Ladybird Heard will be at Town Hall from Tuesday 27 December 2016 until Wednesday 11 January 2017.
