10 of The Best New Restaurants in Birmingham

It’s been a difficult year for the hospitality industry, with many businesses closing their doors so it’s especially exciting to hear of new restaurants opening and doing well.

Our foodie crew at Bread Birmingham have compiled a list of new restaurants that you and your chosen few simply must try out! Of course, they’re all operating safely and socially distanced.

Who will you try first?

670 Grams

Founded by Kray Treadwell, former head chef of Michelin-starred Man Behind The Curtain and a Great British Menu finalist, 670 Grams is a fine dining restaurant, serving up instagrammable gastronomic delights that won’t break the bank.

Located in The Custard Factory in Digbeth offering a fine dining experience serving up a wide variety of small plates across 10 courses. Absolutely divine!

Dishoom

Dishoom opened their doors earlier this year, bringing a sense of Bombay cafe inspired dishes and interiors to Birmingham City Centre – paying homage to Indian design, commerce and trade. Throughout their restaurants in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, and now of course Birmingham, Dishoom offer a wide all day menu, including breakfast naans, an amazing selection of Indian inspired cocktails and an exclusive ‘Birmingham Chefs Special’ of Mutton Chaap Korma. For every meal served at Dishoom, they donate a meal to a child in need, they’ve served over 8 million meals and counting so far!

We absolutely love this company and their ethos, but most importantly, their food is beyond reproach.

Mulino Birmingham

From the team behind Laghis’ Deli (winners of Birmingham’s Best Restaurant in 2018) comes Mulino. An authentic Italian restaurant serving the best in pizza, pastries and prosecco. Located in Millenium point. We’re yet to try this one but have heard great things!

Pulperia Asado

Opened back in March with local top chef Aktar Islam, “Pulperia’s philosophy is simple: Provide an eating experience for guests that pushes the boundaries of Argentinian cuisine with our unique style.” Serving unique cuts of beef from naturally reared pure breeds, fish, grilled chicken and vegetarian options, as well as a selection of asado; small plates with which to begin your meal.

The Pineapple Club

The award winning tem behind The Vanguard in the Jewellery Quarter have now brought us a stunning new cocktail bar. Located in the Great Western Arcade, The Pineapple Club Cocktail Bar and Beer Boutique opened their doors a couple weeks back in September. While all things cocktails are their speciality, expect to find fantastic brunch specials and small plates served throughout the day. They also offer a bottomless brunch! The beautiful interiors were styled by Maisie Violet Rees – award winning artist and interior designer.

Bread top tip – it’s ALL about the decor and the cocktails.

Tierra Tacos

Since arriving at The Cork & Cage in Stirchley in early September, Tierra Tacos has been a popular fixture for Taco lovers in the area. The restaurant is run by the same team behind award winning Bao Bun restaurant, Tiger Bites Pig located at the heart of Birmingham City Centre. Tierra Tacos keep their food offering simple, focussing on perfecting their four different taco dishes – Carnitas (pork), Mole Beef, Baja Fish and Chicken Tinga as well as two vegan options for plant-based diners. Don’t fancy sitting in? The restaurant also offers a takeaway service so you can enjoy the taste of Mexico within the comfort of your home.

Top tip – tinga!

The Proud Sicilian

The Proud Sicillian, located in the heart of Harborne High Street, opened early August serving

up a range of Italian delights. From the same family who operated Valentino’s Italian in

Harborne which closed in 2018, The Proud Sicillian still holds its original values of exceptional mouth-watering innovative dishes and a relaxed and friendly family atmosphere. Offering a

brunch and dinner menu and all available to eat in or take away.

About 8ight

About 8ight is a brand new fine dining experience to come to Birmingham, offering a unique seating experience at The Terrace in The ICC with only 8 guests eating in the restaurant per sitting. During each session, diners are sat around one table with the concept revolving around chef Andrew Sheridan working his magic in the middle of the table.

Keeping with the numerical theme of the restaurant, there is only one seating a day at, you guessed it, 8pm.
