Gaijin Sushi Collaboration with MasterChef Winner Dan Lee

Gaijin Sushi, Birmingham’s most respected Japanese restaurants, is proud to unveil a new Omakase menu in collaboration with acclaimed MasterChef: The Professionals 2021 winner and brummie lad, Dan Lee. Available now, this curated dining experience celebrates Gaijin’s Japanese culinary precision, with Dan’s talent, all at an unbeatable price of just £75.00 per guest, making it the most affordable omakase in the UK.

The menu features a blend of Dan Lee’s signature creativity and Gaijin’s exceptional sushi. Guests can expect highlights such as chilled soba noodles with tomato ponzu and fresh daily fish, a five piece sashimi selection showcasing the finest seasonal cuts, and a nigiri flight that pays homage to Japanese tradition. The meal concludes with a striking dessert of marinated British strawberries, clotted cream ice cream and shiso powder.

Gaijin’s part of this collaboration features the culinary artistry of Sanjoy Sutra Dhar, Gaijin’s Head Chef. With nearly 15 years of sushi expertise across the globe, Sanjoy began his career in 2011 under the esteemed Sushi Chef Joao Soriro at one of Lisbon’s top sushi restaurants.

To elevate the experience further, guests can opt for a carefully matched 8 course sake pairing menu curated by Samuel Boulton, one of the UK’s leading Japanese beverage consultants. Samuel has trained in Japanese breweries and worked closely with Dan Lee and Sanjoy to ensure the pairings enhance each dish’s depth and complexity. Together, they have traded ideas, ingredients and inspiration to create a sake journey as bold and balanced as the food itself.

Reservations are now open. The Omakase and sake pairing menus are available for a limited time.
