Cat-funding Stourbridge shop reopens with a new look

A fresh new look awaits shoppers at a reopened shop in Stourbridge which promises bargain buys and cat-themed gifts that benefit felines in need.

The Cats Protection shop at 27 Lower High Street had been closed since 11 September for refurbishments. Boasting its new aesthetic and refreshed range of stock, there’s plenty to cater for existing and new customers alike including the ever-popular Christmas range.

The shop is also looking for new volunteers to join the team, which could be an ideal opportunity for anyone looking for an introduction to retail or charity work as well as those with experience who want to return to a shop environment.

Area Retail Manager Jess Keitley is keen to hear from anyone interested in volunteering as a till assistant or stock sorter on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, as well as volunteers to help out on Sundays from the end of October who would enjoy covering a variety of shop-based activities.

Jess says: “The shop looks fantastic after its refurbishment and we’re looking forward to seeing some of our faithful shoppers return as well as new faces.

“Our volunteers really are the backbone of everything that happens at the shop and we really could not run it without them. We’d love to hear from anybody who has some spare time and a love of all things retail to join the current team. Loving cats isn’t necessary but it adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the roles as the funds raised by the shop directly benefit the cats taken in by our Stourbridge, Dudley and Wyre Forest branch.

“Volunteering is a great opportunity to learn new skills or share those you already have, meet new people and help cats in the process. No experience is required as you will get full training and we’re completely flexible with regard to the number of hours for which you join us.”

The shop is always pleased to receive donations of good quality new and pre-loved items which can be dropped off at the store during opening hours, Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm (and Sundays from November).
