BIG EVENT ATMOSPHERE TO ARRIVE AT THE GOLDEN HIND PUB IN KINGSTANDING FOLLOWING EXCITING REFURBISHMENT

Kingstanding’s Golden Hind is the next local Marston’s pub to undergo a major transformation, closing temporarily on 2nd March as it prepares to relaunch on 25th March under the new sports concept, Grandstand, with market-leading big screen technology, menus, and events

The Golden Hind in Kingstanding will close its doors on 2nd March to allow for an exciting refurbishment before reopening as a ‘Grandstand’ sports pub. This transformation represents a significant investment of over £271,700.

The much-loved community pub will be transformed with new features designed to deliver a stadium-style experience on every visit. The refurbishment will include the installation of market-leading technology, such as a new 3-metre-long, 1.68-metre-tall screen, state-of-the-art sound systems, and flexible tiered seating to ensure a great view of the action.

A refurbished outdoor area with TV screens will also be added, and locals will be able to order through the all-new Marston’s ‘Order & Pay’ app to ensure they never miss a minute of the action.

The Golden Hind will also be decorated with local sports memorabilia and is calling on the community to share photographs and items to help celebrate the achievements of local sports stars and teams, past and present.

Pub Partners, Robert Jones and Sam Schofield, said: “We are so excited about the plans to re-open as a Grandstand pub. We know our locals are sporting mad and can’t wait to be able to offer them the best possible experience when they can visit us again.”

Located in the suburban area of Kingstanding in North Birmingham, the Golden Hind is a community pub perfectly situated for locals and families to relax with a drink, catch the latest sports fixture, or refuel with some food after taking a walk around the nearby Perry Park.

Once reopened, the pub will show all key sporting fixtures, including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, F1, darts, horse racing, and more. Regulation dart boards and pool tables will return, alongside new competition leagues and free-to-play recreational sessions.

A new range of bar food has been introduced, perfect for half-time and for sharing. The ‘Match Day Menu’ will feature hand-held bites, such as chicken wings and nachos, sitting alongside pub favourites such as fish and chips and burgers. The Golden Hind has also refreshed its range of drinks, and all draught beer is available in 2-pint cups.

Local sports teams will be able to apply for a ‘Black Card’, giving them access to exclusive offers, endless chips on team nights, and rewards for celebrating wins at their local.

The Grandstand concept follows industry research* revealing that 8.5M consumers have watched sports games at the pub, with 86% of fans preferring sports pubs for their atmosphere, better screens and sound, and the chance to connect with friends and family.

Marston’s has selected the Golden Hind for the Grandstand transformation due to its involvement with local sports teams, community groups, and charities. The refurbishment will create an exciting new proposition for local sports fans from Kingstanding and beyond.

The Golden Hind will close on 2nd March and is set to reopen on 25th March with a brand-new look.
