BIRMINGHAM’S SOCIALISING HABITS REVEALED

Over the last decade, having hosted more than 14.4 million people across 12 different cities in the UK alone, Flight Club knows a thing or two about the nation’s socialising habits. As the billion darts mark approaches, today the Social Darts bar releases its inaugural Flight Club Social Index, revealing the lay of the land when it comes to going out and getting competitive.

The Index, based on Flight Club’s proprietary booking and gaming data, reveals some surprising insights into the socialising styles of the UK’s key cities.  The results for Birmingham demonstrate a community made up of Social Butterflies and a tireless dedication to the mid-week social.

The Social Butterflies:

Birmingham has officially been crowned the most sociable city in the UK. Topping the Social Butterflies category, Brummies boast the largest average group sizes for their Flight Club socials, proving that in Brum, ‘the more, the merrier’ is the mantra. While cities like Liverpool and Oxford prefer to keep their circles intimate, Birmingham is the home of the big squad night out, consistently gathering more people for a get-together than anywhere else in the country.

The Competition Kings:

Not just a sociable bunch, Birmingham are a competitive lot, too. The city ranks as the fourth most competitive in the UK, with players throwing a sharp 367 darts per hour. While they are currently chasing the high-velocity pace set by #1 Bristol (406 per hour), Birmingham’s combination of large groups and high-speed play makes them a formidable force in the competitive stakes.

The Mid-Week Masters:

Brummies have proven that a little thing like work the next day won’t stand in the way of a good time. Birmingham ranks third in the UK for both the Mid-Week Masters and Work Hard, Play Hard categories, as the city consistently heads out during the working week more than other major hubs like Manchester and Leeds. Whether it’s a post-work wind-down between 5–7 pm or a full-blown mid-week session, Birmingham’s dedication to the school night social is among the strongest in the country.

The Go hard and then Go Home-ers:

Despite their high energy during the week, Birmingham guests seem to value their beauty sleep. The city ranks ninth in the Late-Night Legends category (post-10 pm) and is the second most likely city in the UK to be tucked up in bed early, following only Manchester for the highest number of pre-5 pm bookings (Early Birds category). It seems that in Birmingham, the party starts early and hits hard, allowing for a legendary social session without the next-day burnout.

Birmingham’s Favourite Game:

In Birmingham, and across every single UK city in fact, Demolition is revealed as Flight Club’s most-played game of the year. The fast-paced game sees players aim to demolish a virtual tower of blocks, reducing their score from 180 to zero. It’s one of seven games in total at Flight Club, including the brand-new Limbo, where, like the classic party game, players must go lower than the previous player.

The Social Super Stars:

Every city has its stand-out-stars but it’s Tom G who takes the top spot for Birmingham in the Social Super Stars, clocking up 55 visits to Flight Club.  Manchester’s Ben W is crowned the nation’s most dedicated player, with an impressive 79 visits.

Steve Moore, CEO & Founder at Flight Club, said, “Reaching one billion darts is a massive moment for us. It’s a testament to every single guest who has stepped up to the oche to celebrate, compete, and have fun. We wanted to mark this with something truly epic – a trip to a Flight Club destination of your choice and free darts for life feels like the right way to thank the people who made this possible. We’ll be celebrating every single throw as we head towards the big one, and we can’t wait to see which city ends up claiming the honour of the billionth dart.”
