Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is continuing its Residents Go Free scheme this summer to Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s New Place Gardens.
The scheme allows residents to explore the life, times and work of William Shakespeare across three Shakespeare family sites, providing fun, informative and free days out to all those with a permanent CV37 postcode. Since the scheme started in Spring 2025 over 5000 residents have already taken advantage of the offer.
Rachael North, Chief Executive of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, said: “With events and activities taking place throughout the summer, we are pleased to continue to offer permanent Stratford residents free access to Shakespeare’s homes. I hope the CV37 community takes advantage of the opportunity to explore our shared heritage together and make new connections at our sites.”
Guests are warmly welcome to visit alongside residents – simply bring your guest along and they’ll enjoy half price admission (adult and child prices apply, to a maximum of four guest tickets per booking).
Throughout the summer visitors can make use of the Explorer Backpacks at Shakespeare’s New Place. These contain viewing frames, stacking blocks, chalkboards, magnifying glasses and binoculars which encourage our younger visitors to take a closer look at the place where Shakespeare wrote many of his most well-known plays and inspire their own creativity.
As well as enjoying Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’s unique historical settings, visitors should also keep an eye out for Tudor family games and a variety of interactive talks, including a Hamnet tour. Supported daily by knowledgeable and friendly staff and volunteers, there is no better place in the postcode to spend a summer’s day.
