The Sunflower Lounge gears up for a full throttle night of punk mayhem as Beach Bønes take the headline slot on Saturday, 21st February, with support from Worcester’s Pegging Mitchell and Birmingham’s Sick of the Riot.
London quartet Beach Bønes specialise in high octane punk built for sweat soaked basements and bodies flying in every direction. Formed by long time friends Beau McCarthy and Jack Purbrick after years spent in separate bands, the project took shape when Beau returned from the US, determined to get back on stage after his Californian punk outfit fell apart.
A handful of writing sessions with Jack lit the fuse, and the pair soon recruited Paul, the band’s chaotic American bassist, and Sam, a guitarist armed with sharp riffs and sharper humour. Together, they deliver fast, ferocious punk designed for rooms exactly like this one.
Worcester’s Pegging Mitchell brings snarling energy and melodic bite as main support. Their blend of righteous fury, punchy riffs and shout along hooks has made them one of the Midlands’ most exciting punk voices. With their rallying cry of “angry songs for angry she’s and they’s,” they deliver catharsis with wit, grit and plenty of volume.
Opening the night are Birmingham duo Sick of the Riot, tapping into the hook heavy, adrenaline charged sound of early 2000s punk rock. Their songs are fast, catchy and built for movement, the kind of set that turns a room restless within seconds.
Three bands, one basement, and a guarantee of absolute chaos. A perfect punk bill for a Saturday night at The Sunflower Lounge.
