Birmingham Museums Sprinkles Some Festive Magic

Birmingham Museums will be pulling out all the stops this festive season with a magical programme of events. In the weeks running up to Christmas there will be opportunities to experience the sights and sounds of Christmases past, visit handmade craft fairs, dance the night away at a museum, and meet Father Christmas!

The festive season gets off to a start at Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum on 27 and 28 November with Mini Christmas. MiniBrum was designed with the help of children, so it only seems right to let them loose on the festive decorating. Activities include festive crafts, tree decorating, a reindeer trail and a special appearance from Father Christmas.

For the grown-ups there will be a chance to party amongst the trains, planes and robots at Thinktank with a Silent Disco on 27 November and 4 December. Visitors can pop, hustle or moonwalk their way around the museum to DJs playing a mix of party, dance, rock and hip-hop. In the weeks before Christmas visitors to Thinktank can also follow the festive Elf Trail around the museum.

At Aston Hall visitors can experience the sights and sounds of the festive season from years gone by. Christmases Past will be brought to life by historical figures from Aston Hall’s past and takes place on 4, 11 and 12 December when a Festive Handmade Craft Market and a Christmas menu in the Stable Yard Café will also be on offer.

Families can Meet Father Christmas at Aston Hall on 17 and 19 December when young children can write a Christmas letter and receive a small Christmas gift and activity pack. During December the Hall will be joyfully and beautifully decorated for Festive Aston Hall and open every Wednesday – Sunday until 19 December.

The Great Hall at Blakesley will also be dressed in readiness for Santa At Blakesley on 11 and 12 December. Children can meet Santa at this very special Tudor family home, make a Christmas card to take home and write a letter to Santa and the elves, ready for the big day. A Christmas Market selling handmade crafts and gifts will held in the Gallery at Blakesley and festive treats will be on offer in the Herb Garden Café.
