Birmingham Rep Announce Open Casting Call for Local Actors

Fresh off their new season reveal earlier this week, Birmingham Rep today announce an exciting open casting call for Birmingham and West Midlands actors.

As part of Joe Murphy’s inaugural season, The Rep presents a brand-new adaptation of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dreamin April 2026, and the venue will hold open auditions next month for local actors to be part of this vibrant new production.

This opportunity is open to passionate and versatile Birmingham and West Midlands based actors who are excited by bold, contemporary storytelling. The Rep welcomes applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and professional representation is not required to apply.

In a joint statement, Birmingham Rep Artistic Director and Deputy Artistic Director, and co-directors of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Joe Murphy and Madeleine Kludje, said: “The Rep has always been committed to championing the incredible talent right here in our city, and this production is a celebration of that. By opening up the audition process, we’re creating space for local actors and creatives to shine on our stage and be part of something truly magical. It’s vital that our theatre reflects the voices, stories, and artistry of the community we serve.”

The Rep team will then invite selected applicants to audition. Application deadline is 12 noon on Fri 10 October.

Auditions will take place at The Rep on Thu 16 – Sat 18 October.

When a love-struck teenager is forced to marry a man, rather than the women she loves, she has a few options: certain death, live a lie, move to a nunnery… or flee to a messy, neon rave in an enchanted forest!

Beyond the city walls boundaries blur, music pulsates, and love is celebrated. Inhibitions are unleashed and love potions spill into more re-couplings than an episode of Love Island.
