Alfred Works, the new 17,500 sq. ft food hall from award winning hospitality group Blend Family, is now open at the historic Custard Factory in Digbeth. The highly anticipated venue brings together a global lineup of independent kitchens, immersive experiences, and community initiatives under one roof. Birmingham is invited to eat, play and connect in a whole new way.
From global street food and cult favourites to bold, homegrown champions, Alfred Works is home to 15 independent kitchens, a large outdoor courtyard, social gaming zones, family friendly spaces and event areas overlooking the River Rea. Featuring cuisines from around the world, guests can enjoy everything from Korean street food, Italian classics, bold Caribbean flavours, comforting Palestinian dishes, Malaysian favourites and more.
The events programme at Alfred Works is already underway, establishing the venue as a true cultural and community hub in Digbeth. From seasonal celebrations and creative workshops to live entertainment, family activities and food focused experiences, there’s something for everyone.
Chinese New Year activities kick off the programme in February, including a free Lunar New Year workshop where children can write traditional Fai Chun messages to celebrate the festival. The full programme of events and booking details can be found at https://alfredworks.co.uk/events/
Alongside the food and events offering, Alfred Works has been designed as a welcoming space for the community to spend time throughout the day. With fast Wi-Fi, comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s an ideal spot for co-working, informal meetings or getting out of the office. A range of lunchtime deals makes it easy for local workers, freelancers and creatives to drop in and fuel their creativity.
A dedicated cookery school and community foundation will open at Alfred Works this spring, continuing the Blend Family’s wider social mission to support food education and help tackle food poverty.
“Alfred Works celebrates independent talent, global flavours and food that brings people together,” said Matt Bigland, Co-founder of Blend Family. “Now that our doors are open, we’re thrilled to be a space where Birmingham’s diversity, creativity and community spirit can thrive.”
Alfred Works is open seven days a week; Sunday – Wednesday: 8am – 10.30pm (food served until 9.30pm). Thursday – Saturday: 8am – 10.30pm (food served until 10pm).
