A mid week burst of alt rock colour arrives at The Victoria on Wednesday, 27th May, as Canned Pineapple headline a triple bill packed with energy, hooks and DIY spirit. Joining them are Brad Hunter & The Afterparty and Femme, making this one of the most vibrant Wednesday nights in the calendar.

Brighton’s Canned Pineapple hit the road in support of their acclaimed sophomore EP Big Break, and the buzz surrounding them continues to grow. Fronted by Irish vocalist Seán Drury, with Oakley Gardiner and Gabe Rice on guitars, Sam Cullen on bass and Charlie Pringle on drums, the five piece have quickly become one of the UK’s most exciting new bands.

Their self styled “scuzz pop” blends fuzzy edges with irresistible pop sensibility, a sound that’s earned praise from So Young, Dork, Clash, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X. Produced by Tom Rees (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard / The Bug Club / Panic Shack), Big Break captures the band’s charismatic, high voltage live energy while delivering choruses that lodge themselves firmly in your head.

The past year has seen Canned Pineapple go global, playing New Colossus Festival in New York, Down The Rabbit Hole and Left of the Dial in the Netherlands, Fifty Lab in Belgium, and a standout set at The Great Escape. Their 2025 tour takes them across the UK and Europe, including major festival slots at Truck, Y Not and their French debut at Supersonic, Paris. Expect a performance bursting with crunch, charm and undeniable star power.

Shropshire/Powys trio Brad Hunter & The Afterparty bring a punchy mix of indie urgency, alt rock grit and big, anthemic choruses. Named a featured artist on BBC Radio Shropshire in 2025, they’ve been rising fast off the back of their self produced debut album Take Care, home to local favourites Painkiller and Dopamine. With nods to Biffy Clyro, Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant and Catfish and the Bottlemen, they’re a tight, high impact live act with serious momentum.

Opening the night are alt rock trio Femme, a DIY rooted band led by two women channelling garage rock grit, riot grrrl attitude and sharp, relatable lyricism. Loud, crunchy and unapologetically direct, their sound draws from Mannequin Pussy, The Breeders and Courtney Barnett, exploring the realities of female life, relationships and everything messy in between. With more gigs on the horizon and a new EP on the way in 2026, they’re quickly becoming a name to watch.

A lively night of scuzz pop sparkle and alt rock punch, perfect for anyone who wants their mid week gig loud, catchy and full of personality.
