Petrol heads are gearing up for another Cars In The Park event in Lichfield next month – with more than 2,000 vehicles set to go on display.
The annual show, organised by Lichfield St Chad Rotary, started with 40 cars in the first year and has grown to now become one of the biggest events of its kind in the country.
It also features a wide program of family entertainment, including BMX and Birds of Prey displays; fairground rides, trade and charity stands, dancing troupes, 4×4 responders and food village.
Cars In The Park takes place in Beacon Park across the weekend of July 5th and 6th and is raising funds for Lichfield St Chad Rotary and the Stan Bowley Cancer Trust, with the support of sponsorship by Jordan Financial Management, in Sutton Coldfield and Trade Tyre Services and Mercian Wealth Management, in Lichfield.
Rotarian and Cars In The Park organiser Andrew Maw said: “We have a large arena for owners to tell the public about their cars and take part in a “Best of Show” competition. Cars of all ages and makes attend, either as car clubs or as individual entries.
“We have many car dealers displaying their cars on professional stands and the public can have a really close look at leisure at new cars as well as classics.
“We especially welcome families and children and there is plenty to amuse them. The Staffordshire Police and Fire and Rescue services will have large displays and Staffordshire’s own JCB will be showing several of their superb works machines.”
He added: “Apart from the Lichfield St Chad Rotary Club we have help from the Stan Bowley Cancer Trust, Naval, Air Force and Police cadets, and many volunteer Rotarians and Round Tablers. We can always find tasks for more volunteers though so please contact me on: 07748 900171.
“We are grateful to our sponsors this year, without whom there would be no show and we look forward to seeing you all for one of the biggest events in Lichfield’s calendar.”
The gates open 8am-4pm on Saturday and 8am-4.30pm on Sunday and entry is free but donations are welcomed. Parking is available at £5 per vehicle. Car Clubs and traders must book in advance but individual classic car owners can turn up on the days of the show and will be admitted. There is provision in the park for disabled drivers.
Cars In The Park is the biggest fundraising event organised by Lichfield St Chad Rotary Club, which has been serving Lichfield since 1980.
