Christmas at MAC One Snowy Night by Slot Machine Theatre

Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) is delighted to announce that our Christmas show by Slot Machine Theatre, One Snowy Night, opens next week.

Join us from Tue 16 November until Tue 28 December for a heart-warming live stage show
based on the classic children’s book by Nick Butterworth – featuring Percy the Park Keeper.

One Snowy Night is a bestselling and exciting tale with gorgeous puppetry and jolly songs to sing along to. Watch the much-loved tale transformed into a live magical Christmas show suitable for children ages 4+ and their families.

From the makers of Kipper’s Snowy Day, which came to MAC in 2019, Slot Machine Theatre return with another festive adventure for audiences this winter.

A ground-breaking company making bold, contemporary work for audiences of all ages, Slot Machine Theatre are experts in creating high-quality, entertaining theatre.

Nicola Blackwell, Co-Artistic Director of Slot Machine Theatre, said: “There’s nothing betterthan seeing so many generations sitting side by side in the theatre.”

“…This is such a feel good story in general, so I hope people leave with that indescribablewarm, fuzzy feeling that you get when you’ve just really enjoyed a show.

Nick Tigg, Co-Artistic Director of Slot Machine Theatre, continued: “We try to do things thatare quite magical in our shows, like making it snow in the theatre so the kids can’t quitefigure out where it’s come from. Yes, spoiler alert, it will snow in Cannon Hill Park this year, regardless of the weather!”*

About the show

As Percy the Park Keeper goes to sleep after a hard day sweeping leaves, he’s woken by a knock at his door. Who could it be on a night like this?

It’s Squirrel, cold and shivering on the porch and looking for somewhere warm to sleep. There’s nowhere warmer than Percy’s bed – but it soon becomes a fur and feather-filled squeeze as all the freezing park animals come in from the cold.

Fox, Badger, Hedgehog and friends warm their collective paws (and claws) in Percy’s home until they, too, are disturbed by a little something burrowing into the hut from below!

Do not miss this beautifully festive show packed with gentle humour, a heart-warming story, and furry puppet friends. Come along to get into the festive spirit.
