Historic Tudor house, Coughton Court in Warwickshire, has launched a brand new exhibition exploring the Throckmorton family’s story through photography over the last three centuries.
‘The Throckmorton Family: Through the Lens’ brings together a fascinating collection of photographs charting the lives of the family through the generations, from the time photography first became widely established in the 19th century through to the present day.
The exhibition offers a rare and personal glimpse into the family behind Coughton Court, capturing early formal portraits to more candid images of later generations. The photographs trace the family’s story through the lens providing an intimate record of the many generations who have called the historic estate home.
Magnus Birch Throckmorton, who manages Coughton Court alongside his wife Imogen, said: “Photography gives us a wonderfully personal way of looking back through the generations and it’s fascinating to see how much has changed over the years. We hope visitors enjoy discovering a little more about the people behind Coughton Court and seeing how our family’s story has unfolded through the lens over the years.”
Entry to the exhibition is included with all house and garden tickets.
Coughton Court is open all year round from Wednesday to Sunday, 9am-4.30pm. Tickets are £15.50 for adults (16+), £6.50 for children (under 5s are free), and £14 for concessions (60+) and students. Parking and entry to the Stableyard cafe, shop and play area is free of charge.
