The guys at Amusement 13 Birmingham wanted a Craft Beer and cocktail offering in the newly refurbished venue and so they asked Dare’s.
The Dares Pop up bar on Kent Street gives Birmingham an exciting taster of what is to follow from Dares of Davenports.
The Dares craft beers on draft are brewed by historic Brummie brand Davenports (founded 1829), and are combined with a selection of craft and premium beers from across the globe, premium spirits and a great range of cocktails, something to offer all tastes. Check out their boiler maker challenge!
The beautifully designed space is a carefully selected mixture of different materials and textures, with its warehouse feel exposed brickwork walls cleverly interwoven with corrugated iron sheeting and metal finishes, it’s a brilliant set up and will bring something new and exciting to Brum, giving other venues a run for their money. There are some interesting features such as a brew pipe!
Musically it is the perfect setting for both live performances as well as Djs, with a state of the art Void Air Vantage sound system and intelligent light system, the sound and visuals would stand up to some of the best bars in the world.
It’s much more than just a bar though, there will be a whole multitude of events including art exhibitions, corporate events, spoken word and cinema nights.
Consider this venue as a premium space for those that wish to party in a more refined environment, this venue will be a link between gritty Digbeth and the more up market bars popping up in the city centre. It’s weekly musical offer has no set charge on the door, with a ‘dare’ to pay what you feel appropriate.
Look out for new venues arriving in Hockley and Moseley in the not too distant future.

The original Dare’s Southend Brewery was located on Belgrave Road, Balsall Heath Birmingham, and dates back to 1927, it was acquired by Davenports in 1962, its been dormant for years but now it’s back, and this time it has attitude.
Dares beers are an eclectic trio of wickedly brewed flavoursome modern craft beers. They comprise of RIP, an interpretation of a real Indian Pale Ale, dry hopped with Chinook Hops. Red Eye a ravishing Red Amber Ale, dry hopped with Cascade and 6IX a premium 6% craft lager combining the best of English and German hops.
The great beer will be available on draft from new Davenports and Dares bars due to open across Birmingham and the Midlands in the next 6 months. It will also be in bottles at selected free houses!
