At Anawim – Birmingham’s Centre for Women we’re once again taking part in the Big Give’s Women and Girls Match Fund! This amazing opportunity could allow us to raise a huge £12,000 in just one week. This year is our 40th anniversary, so to raise one thousand pounds for each of its months would really top off our celebrations!
Any donations (up to £6000) made between the 6th and 13th of October will be generously matched by our Big Give Champions. This means our generous donors have double the impact and we can make double the difference. In 2025 we raised a total of £10,030 in Big Give week, and hope in 2026 we can top that.
Anawim has been in Balsall Heath for four decades, providing a safe space and a listening ear. Our staff and volunteers provide crisis intervention, counselling, intensive long-term specialist support and advocacy. Our doors are open to the women who need us – and they can come to us for any reason.
We have grown consistently for the past four decades and now work with more than two thousand women every year. They often face multiple simultaneous challenges including mental health issues, domestic abuse, substance misuse, criminal justice involvement, and housing instability, alongside the long-term effects of trauma.
Anawim might be the first place a woman feels listened to, simply somewhere she can access food or toiletries, or a route to safety. Our staff have impacted tens of thousands of women over the last 40 years, and we would love to continue being able to do so.
