Nigerian restaurant Empress is set to be the place to impress this Valentine’s Day, promising a vibrant and unforgettable celebration of love, music and culture.
The much-talked-about new restaurant, located just off Pershore Road in Stirchley, will be pulling out all the stops across Valentine’s weekend with the announcement of a special guest performance by BishopSax, the acclaimed saxophonist from Burna Boy’s touring crew.
Designed for couples in love and friends celebrating Galentine’s, this exclusive dining experience offers far more than a traditional night out. Guests will enjoy a curated three-course Valentine’s set menu, perfectly paired with the smooth Afro-Beats and live saxophone sounds of BishopSax, creating an electric yet intimate atmosphere. For anyone looking to treat their African Queen – or simply celebrate love and friendship in style – Empress promises a memorable evening
At the heart of the experience is the Valentines Royal Dinner Experience crafted by Chef Oyetola Akande, which showcases Empress’ signature blend of Nigerian tradition and contemporary flair. The mouthwatering menu features some stand out dishes including the indulgent sticky honey BBQ chicken wings, perfectly glazed and packed with flavour, followed by her outstanding signature smokey jollof rice for main. But it doesn’t stop there, a sweet treat like sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream completes the menu and will be sure to get your heart skipping a beat this Valentine’s Day!
Rooted deeply in Nigerian heritage, the cuisine reflects the vision of Co-Founder Oyetola Akande, who explains: “My philosophy is that every dish should evoke a sense of home, pride and discovery, inviting both Africans and the wider community to experience the richness of Nigerian cuisine in a comforting and welcoming atmosphere.”
The dining experience suited perfectly for a couple is priced at £130 for a table of two. For those looking to wine and dine with their Galentines, tables start at £260 for four, £390 for six, and £520 for eight. Spaces are limited, so as Burna Boy would say, don’t be “last last.”
There will also be a raffle draw to win a Spa experience, complimentary arrival drinks and a chance to have personalised photos to take home.
With its lively soundtrack, carefully curated menu and celebratory spirit, Empress is redefining Valentine’s dining in Birmingham – bringing culture, connection and irresistible flavour to the table.
