My Life Story Biog

With a string of top 40 hit singles and albums in the 1990s, My Life Story received huge critical acclaim with their brand of epic, orchestral pop, leading many artists of the Britpop era to feature them on their records. One of our most colourful lyricists is how Steve Lamacq described charismatic frontman Jake Shillingford, famous for his sharp tongue and even sharper suits.

Now, MLS has become a hugely popular, tight live act on the wave of the 90s revival. Their high-energy set includes singalong favourites 12 Reasons Why I Love Her, Strumpet, Sparkle and The King of Kissingdom.  Taking a break from writing film and TV scores, Jake and the band have recently crowd-funded their fourth studio album.

“Jake Shillingford [took] to the stage like a true star.  Part Jagger, part Jarvis, he kicked, star-jumped and fell to the floor in mesmerising fashion. “You’re left with no doubt that My Life Story is one of the decade’s forgotten heroes and asking ‘why were they not massive?’

TRANSMISSION biog

A homecoming show in Birmingham after their mighty 2022 gig! Devoted to recreating the atmosphere of a live Joy Division gig, Transmission emulate the sound of one of the most inventive, evocative, and influential groups of their era. Forty years on you can still relive the dark cavernous sound of Joy Division through Transmission the U. K’s number one Joy Division tribute act.

“Though I adore Martin Hannet’s studio production, Joy Division live was first and foremost a pile driving rock band. This ‘Gang of 4’ capture the moment perfectly!”

“It didn’t feel like a tribute band at all. As close to the real thing as you could get.”

“They’re so faithful to the actual songs it’s unreal. Even ones like Atmosphere which you think wouldn’t work well live, they have the crowd going wild for.”

“Unlike many tribute bands who make great efforts to look like clones of the band they cover, Transmission concentrate solely on the sound and musical ability of Joy Division and they pull it off perfectly.”

“Forget looking like a poor replica band – close your eyes at this gig and you would be forgiven for thinking you were at a Joy Division gig in 1980, the sound is so perfect.”

They will be supported by The Pink Diamond Revue – with curious drumbeats, psychedelia, an evocative light show and rock n roll riffs. A mix of Talking Heads, David Byrne, Mick Green Guitar with an angular, David Bowie, plus acid doll! Check them out via the usual platforms..
