HOAR CROSS HALL AND EDEN HALL TO LAUNCH PHONE DETOX THIS VALENTINE’S DAY

From 9th to 18th February, guests at Hoar Cross Hall and Eden Hall Day Spa will be encouraged to lock their phones away to spend more quality time with their partner

The multi-award-winning spa hotel Hoar Cross Hall and day spa Eden Hall are asking guests to join them this Valentine’s Day for a phone detox, encouraging them to lock their phone away with the intent to decrease screen time and inspire guests to be ‘in the moment’ with their loved one.

Research indicates* that the average British couple spends just four hours a day together in the same room. The study of 2,000 adults who lived with their partners found conflicting work hours, different interests and alternative bedtimes resulted in them spending little time together.

‘Phubbing’, a term coined which means ‘the habit of snubbing a physically present person in favour of a mobile phone’*. Yeslam Al-Saggaf, author of The Psychology of Phubbing, found that we’re most likely to ‘phub’ the people closest to us with participants in the study ‘phubbing’ their partners the most, affecting both their personal well-being and romantic relationships.

Inspired by the research, Hoar Cross Hall and Eden Hall are launching the digital detox, giving guests the perfect opportunity to spend more quality time together, away from the distraction of their phones. During their stay, guests will be tasked with placing their phones in boxes, which will be positioned around the properties.

At Hoar Cross Hall, guests can experience a 60-minute couples’ treatment in the dual room, full spa access, an overnight escape in a sublime room or suite, à la carte dinner, a leisurely breakfast, 3-course lunch, with access to the Wellness Suite, Parlour and Spa Boutique from £259 per person. At Eden Hall, they can enjoy a 60-minute treatment, full spa access and a 3-course lunch, from £199 per person.

For an added supplement of £45, guests can choose to add the Be Mine Indulgence package, which includes prosecco, chocolates, and a card. They can also upgrade their facials from the Elemis Pro-Collagen products to the rose range for FREE throughout February.

Anji McGrandles, Wellbeing Expert and Founder of The Mind Tribe, who will be conducting wellness workshops at Hall Cross Hall in coming months said, “In an ‘always on’ culture, taking a break from our phones is a quick way to level up your well-being and indulge in some quality time with your partner. Engaging in intentional tech-free periods allows us to reclaim our time, reduce stress, and foster genuine connections with our loved one. Without the distractions of social media, emails and apps we can immerse ourselves in meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and be truly present this Valentine’s.”

Phil Murphy, Managing Director at Hoar Cross Hall, said, “At Hoar Cross Hall, we take pride in being an ideal retreat for couples. Research suggests that this type of experience is greatly important, and we hope that the benefits extend beyond our walls and help people refocus on what and who truly matter throughout the year.”

Nerys Chell,Managing Director at Eden Hall, continued, “Our Halls have so much to offer in real life, from award-winning spas to spectacular grounds and decadent dining. I’m confident guests will be up for the challenge and won’t think twice about ditching their screens while visiting us.”
