Kings Heath Comedy Festival – proving good things come in threes

Kings Heath Comedy Festival is back for a third time – and this could be the best yet – with shows from national stars, local legends and the best up and coming acts. The festival again kicks off with a launch show at the Hare and Hounds, with Lindsey Santoro hosting and Josh Pugh opening proceedings. The headline slot is taken by Rosie Jones, performing a full work in progress of her new tour show.

We’re very proud of this year’s line up – we have award winners, TV comedians, new acts and podcast stars. Over the weekend there’s a chance to see comedians at the top of their game: Rachel Fairburn, Anna Thomas, Dane Buckley and Stuart Goldsmith for example. There’s also a chance to catch local comics who are on the up – Tom Towelling, Chole Reynolds, Eric Rushton, Tal Davies, Rachel Baker – and many, many more. The gala show – celebrating our much-loved volunteer Cate, who died during the 2024 festival – is still to be announced.

It’s not all just comics doing their Edinburgh hours. We have performances from the Real Housewives of Birmingham, One Star Film Club, the HaHa-Lal Roast Battle, and Queer as Joke are back too. We’re also expecting comedy writer and “funniest woman on twitter” Ruth Husko to pop up again. A lot of shows are running on a pay as you feel basis, so audiences can take a chance on something new at no risk.

Once again, Kings Heath Comedy Festival will be spread across lots of beloved local venues, with performances at venues including The Hare and Hounds, CircusMash, how brave is the wren, Schooners, The Juke, Fletchers, Kings Heath Community Centre, Top Banana and Grace + James.

Organisers Alice and Kate said: “The festival is becoming an established part of the Kings Heath Calendar now and we’re so happy that people are choosing to support it! It’s exciting to programme it every year, to promote the local acts we love, and to bring some bigger acts down to B14.”
