Kings Heath United Against Racism Organises Birmingham Palestine Weekender Music & Arts Fest 30 – 31 March 2024

Kings Heath United Against Racism, in collaboration with local venues, proudly announces the Birmingham Palestine All-Dayer Festival, scheduled to take place on Sat 30 & Sun 31 March 2024. This event aims to raise awareness about the ongoing plight of the Palestinian people, demonstrating our solidarity, and issuing a call for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the genocide perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, we demand that UK political leaders cease their complicity in Israeli war crimes.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) recently ruled that there is plausible evidence of genocidal acts committed by Israel in its assault on Palestinians in Gaza. The devastating impact of carpet bombing and ground invasion prompted the court to mandate urgent measures to protect Palestinians. This ruling holds significant implications for the UK, obliging it to ensure it is not aiding the commission of the crime of genocide.

With the ICJ’s vindication of the global outcry against Israel’s actions, which has manifested in protests worldwide, we call on the UK government to act decisively. More than 27,000 people, primarily women and children, have been killed, and thousands are missing or presumed dead under the rubble of Israel’s bombardment. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as “appalling,” emphasising the urgent need for intervention.

The Birmingham Palestine Weekender Music & Arts Festival will feature an eclectic programme across multiple venues in Kings Heath. Activities include live music, DJ sets, spoken word performances, storytelling, arts and crafts workshops, banner-making workshops, in-depth conversations with Palestinian writers and activists, and presentations on the history of Palestine.

We extend an invitation to all Palestinian solidarity organisations to support the Birmingham Palestine All-Dayer Festival. We urge you to promote the event within your networks and encourage participation, especially from communities not yet engaged in supporting Palestine. Together, we can amplify our collective voice against injustice and demand a world where peace and justice prevail.
