A night of heavy grooves, snarling riffs and rising UK talent hits Actress & Bishop on Friday, 8th May, as Krooked Tongue return to Birmingham, joined by special guests Rooted and Liars at the Witch Trial.

Bristol’s Krooked Tongue have been steadily climbing the alt rock ranks since the release of their debut EP No Vacancy Hotel in 2022. Produced by Josh Gallop (Phoxjaw, Mother Vulture), the record has now passed 200,000 streams, earning acclaim from Ones To Watch, HardBeat Magazine, Distorted Sound and more.

Their follow up EP Deathproof (2023) pushed their sound into darker, heavier territory, a clear step forward that’s since accumulated over 320,000 streams and attracted support from Louder Than War Radio, Sirius XM, BBC Introducing and a growing list of tastemakers.

On stage, Krooked Tongue are a tight, brooding force: thick riffs, a moody swagger and a live presence that feels both razor sharp and unpredictable. They’ve toured with Virgin Marys, False Heads, Phoxjaw, Moriaty, The Soap Girls, Mother Vulture, and hit festivals including Icebreaker, Dot to Dot, Tallinn Music Week and Burn It Down.

Birmingham’s own Rooted brings a grunge leaning alt rock sound built on tight rhythms, melodic grit and a live energy that’s quickly turning heads on the local circuit. Their sets are punchy, hook driven and full of momentum, making them a perfect match for a night built on heavy riffs and attitude.

Opening the evening are Liars at the Witch Trial, whose atmospheric alt rock leans into the theatrical and the unsettling. Brooding textures, sharp dynamics and a dark edge define their sound, setting the tone for a night of moody, high impact alternative music.

A stacked Friday lineup of alt rock swagger, Midlands talent and tightly wound intensity that’s ideal for anyone who wants their live music gritty, loud and full of bite!
