Contenders, ready! With less than six weeks to go until the Gladiators Live Tour hits UK arenas, the line-up has now been announced, including the Gladiators themselves, contenders, referees and host Maia Beth (BBC Radio 1). The full line-up of Gladiators will be appearing throughout the tour: Steel, Legend, Nitro, Fury, Diamond, Giant, Comet, Bionic, Electro, Phantom, Viper, Athena, Cyclone and Hammer. And not only that, but the majority of contenders have been announced too. The full list of contenders taking part from both Series 1 and Series 2 so far is: Amanda Wah, Aneila Afsar, Zavia Hill, Rachel Bruno-Hardy, Joe Fishburn, Nathan Bland, Joe Holroyde, Marie-Louise Nicholson, Bronte Jones, Kerry Wilson, Wesley Male and Dev Pankhania.
Both Zavia Hill and Dev Pankhania had to withdraw from the TV show due to injury, so the Gladiators Live Tour will give them a chance to get their retribution. And not only that, but Series 1 Female Champion Marie-Louise Nicholson and Series 2 Female Champion Amanda Wah will both be taking part in the tour, as well as various Series 1 and Series 2 contenders who will have the chance to go head to head with each other for the very first time.
The three Gladiators Live Tour referees have been announced as Mark Clattenburg (Head Referee), Sonia Mkoloma and Lee Phillips, all from the TV show. Mark Clattenburg is not only the Gladiators Head Referee, but also a former Premier League referee, known for refereeing notable matches such as the UEFA Champions League Final and the Euro 2016 Final.
The tour’s host has been announced as BBC Radio 1 presenter and DJ Maia Beth, who hails from Washington, Tyne and Wear. She regularly presents shows across BBC Radio 1 and has hosted events such as Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds Festival, and is also a keen wrestling fan.
Gladiators Live promises an adrenaline-fuelled two-hour spectacle starring the new heroes from the hit BBC series, packed with fan-favourite events and the legendary Eliminator. The nationwide tour kicks off in Liverpool, London and Manchester this November, before reaching Glasgow and Birmingham in December, celebrating the series’ enduring cultural legacy.
