The Big Bull’s Head, Digbeth

Digbeth has long been renowned for its Irish boozers. I don’t mean Irish themed, I mean Irish owned, with Irish punters and of course Irish food and drinks. The Big Bull’s Head is all of the above and it’s right in the heart of the action.

This Victorian pub has escaped mass renovation, thus retaining many original features, including etched mirrors of local breweries and a pretty authentic looking bar.

It can be a busy place, with many regulars which make for a lively colourful atmosphere day or night. The clientele range from loyal customers who look like they have supped Guinness at the bar over several decades, to the younger generation who visit for the live music out back.

With HPA on tap, Guinness, cider and lager there is more than enough to wet your whistle and keep you there long enough to appreciate a few songs on the jukebox, and perhaps a jig in the bar and some food after.

Live Music

The back yard which doubles as a live music venue with regular weekend promoters bringing some of the best live bands and DJs. The live music brings in a different crowd on weekends and there are some great promoters utilising this little outside space with Sunday acoustic sessions too!

Live music events range from burlesque nights, and pub boot sales to live performances from local bands such as Irish Wrist Watch, Cracked Actors, Nine Dart Finish, Little Liam, Shaun Gambowl Walsh, The Plagiarists, Bear andAsh Sheehan.
