Owner Roifield Brown is celebrating 12 months at the helm of historic Jewellery Quarter pub, Temper & Brown and has thanked customers for their support with a party, full of Caribbean charm that the venue has become famous for.
The iconic spot on Albion Street, dates back to 1820 and was previously known as the Pig & Tail. Entrepreneur Roifield took over the reigns and relaunched the pub as Temper & Brown last August, promising to create a community hub where excellent food, drinks and atmosphere come together to create a memorable experience.
That vision has certainly become a reality with regular live acts and spoken word nights with special guests such as Brum legend and historian Carl Chinn, plus weekly Supper Clubs with music from DJ Dick and Jim Shaft Ryan. Quiz Wednesday’s, Food Truck Fridays and Reggae Roasts on Sunday have all become regular fixtures at Temper & Brown, loved by locals looking for a relaxed and informal place to socialise.
Quality food is served up by Esme’s Caribbean Fusion bringing good vibes and next-level Caribbean eats, including signature dishes like Jerk Chicken Skewers and Curry Mutton. Known for blending traditional Caribbean flavours with modern twists, Esmie’s brings an authentic and soulful taste of the islands to Temper & Brown. One standout dish is the Jerk Chicken Skewers, served with a sweet pineapple and pomegranate salsa. The smoky, spicy aroma of the jerk seasoning is perfectly balanced by the fresh and fruity salsa, delivering a dish that is as vibrant as it is delicious.
The jewel in the crown of this friendly neighbourhood bar is its secret garden courtyard. The twinkling lights create a magical setting, perfect for sipping a cocktail on a warm evening.
Reflecting on the past 12 months, Roifield said: “Starting any new venture is a leap of faith. but the response from the community — both local and beyond — has been incredible.
