Louis Osbourne, son of Ozzy Osbourne, to run the London Marathon for liver charity

Louis Osborne is set to take on the London Marathon on 23rd April 2023 to raise funds and awareness for the British Liver Trust. It’s a cause close to his heart as his wife was diagnosed with a rare liver condition in June 2020.

Liver disease is a significant public health issue in the UK, with over 600,000 people living with a serious liver condition and one in three people at risk. While lifestyle factors contribute to a significant portion of liver diseases, there are many different causes.

“I have witnessed first-hand how challenging it can be for someone living with liver disease and the impact it has on their loved ones,” said Louis, the Birmingham-based owner of All Night Artists. “There are many liver diseases which are not attributable to lifestyle factors and I am passionate about supporting my wife and others affected by them. I believe that raising awareness and funds for the British Liver Trust, who support people with all types of liver conditions, is an excellent way to do that.”

Liver diseases can be challenging to detect in the early stages, as many of them can progress without displaying obvious symptoms. This silent progression can lead to irreversible damage to the liver, making early diagnosis critical to prevent further harm. In addition to providing essential patient support, the British Liver Trust plays a vital role in improving the early diagnosis of liver disease and promoting liver health for everyone.

“We are thrilled that Louis has chosen to support the British Liver Trust by taking on the London Marathon,” says Audrey Cornelius, Director of Fundraising at the British Liver Trust. “Liver disease is a serious condition that affects hundreds of thousands of people in the UK, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters to help us continue our vital work. We wish Louis all the best for the marathon and thank him and his family and friends for all their support.”

Louis is no stranger to endurance events, having completed several challenges including Triathlons, but sees the London Marathon as one of the most challenging, saying: “Many endurance athletes say that a Marathon is harder than an Ironman as you (try to) run the whole distance.”

Louis is aiming to raise at least £3000 for the British Liver Trust, and donations can be made at Louis Osbourne is fundraising for British Liver Trust (justgiving.com).
