Make a difference to the lives of your fellow Brummies this Christmas by supporting LoveBrum’s campaign, Bags for Brummies. The festive season is all about giving and sharing the love, so here’s how you can get involved.
First started in 2018, Bags for Brummies is a virtual shopping initiative that provides the opportunity to help those most in need. Through gifting a package of essentials, you can help the homeless and vulnerable stay safe and warm this Christmas.
Poverty is rapidly rising in Birmingham. Over a third of children are living in poverty and 43% of people are living in areas that are ranked in the 10% most deprived areas nationally. As a result of the cost of living crisis, these already shocking statistics are likely to worsen. Now, more than ever, we need to rely on the generosity of our Birmingham community to make a difference.
Getting involved with Bags for Brummies is as simple as ordering your Christmas presents online. Available via the Give Today platform, you can buy a bundle from as little as £10.50. These have been created using wish lists of essential items provided by LoveBrum’s charity partners and include toiletries, food and warm clothing, all packed in to a LoveBrum drawstring bag. These are then delivered directly to three outstanding charities Reconnected, SIFA Fireside and Helping Hands and distributed to those most in need.
Once you’ve purchased your bundle, you can come along to LoveBrum’s event on the 5th December between 9am-11am at The Good Intent and help pack a bag of donated goods. Tickets are just £15 and also include: tea, coffee, juice, a selection of fresh-baked pastries, a talk from a LoveBrum cause, a donation directly to LoveBrum and an auction and raffle with funds going directly to LoveBrum.
Joanna Seabright, Vice Chair of LoveBrum said: “ At LoveBrum we want to make Birmingham a better place, and through our annual Bags For Brummies initiative, we hope to support as many homeless and vulnerable people as possible, especially at this time of year. Our Bags for Brummies campaign is a great way to be able to spread a little cheer during these dark and cold winter months.
“We were blown away by people’s incredible donations last year, as well as the number of amazing volunteers that selflessly gave up their time to pack these bags. We’d love to go bigger and better this year, and we need everyone’s help to be able to do this.”

LoveBrum is a registered charity that supports hidden gem projects across Birmingham that are often volunteer led and that deliver real change, with outcomes that can be seen, measured, enjoyed, and loved.
