Maison Mayci launches a new venture in Moseley

Stand by for a French revolution when Birmingham’s much-loved Maison Mayci launches a new venture.

The boulangerie, patisserie and cafe have attracted loyal daytime following at its premises in Moseley and Kings Heath since it was launched in 2005 by French brothers David and Remi Faveau.

Their artisan loaves, cakes, pastries and cafe savouries, all produced in-house by Maison Mayci, are loved by local foodies. But now the Moseley premises are undergoing a facelift and from May 24 onwards will be opening during evenings at weekends, offering a mouth-watering restaurant menu.

As well as changes to the shop and cafe area, Maison Mayci is moving its bakery from its current city centre location to an large upstairs space in the Moseley premises. And that has presented David and Remi with a fantastic opportunity.

The bread ovens at Moseley mean that we can prepare beautiful slow-cooked dishes,

It seemed a pity not to take advantage of that opportunity, while at the same time offering people fabulous food at affordable prices. We’ll be using top-quality ingredients and tasty marinades to create the sort of food that diners crave.

Expect an a la carte menu with dishes such as slow-cooked beef blade with red wine and shallots, cider-glazed pork belly and, for vegans, a mixed vegetable tajine.

There’ll also be the French favourites that you’d expect – such as grilled vegetables and crudités, foie gras, charcuterie boards, soupe de poissons and frogs legs.

There’ll also be plenty of poultry, fish, vegetarian and vegan offerings. For those with a sweet tooth, the meal can finish with desserts including ile flottante, crème brûlée with vanilla and raspberries or beautifully-crafted cakes from the counter

And – in true French bistro style – there’ll be a set menu featuring delicious classic dishes at a cost of £18.95 for two courses or £23.95 for three. The restaurant will be fully licensed, with a special wine list concentrating on France plus digestive such as Chartreuse (from David and Remi’s hometown) Calvados, Armagnac and Cognac.

Maison Mayci Moseley will open on Friday and Saturday evenings from May 24th. Booking is strongly advised by emailing booking@mayci.co.uk, visiting the website or phoning 07984 777209.
