Ahead of the much-anticipated debut season announcement from Birmingham Rep’s newly appointed Artistic Director, Joe Murphy this month, The Rep have announced they will be holding four open access forums for freelance creatives and artists, local and regional companies, and local communities of Birmingham with their upcoming Town Hall Talks with Artistic Director Joe Murphy.
In these forums, anyone is welcome to meet Joe and hear about his plans and vision for The Rep, as well as providing an opportunity to share their own Ideas, viewpoints, and insights on the future of The Rep and Birmingham’s cultural scene.
When asked why The Rep has decided to hold these events, Artistic Director Joe Murphy said:“I am really excited to meet the communities of Birmingham and hear their thoughts and ideas about what they want The Rep to be.
This building is here to be useful and offer opportunities to the people of Birmingham, and I want The Rep to celebrate the diverse voices of this city.”
Joe and The Rep want the events to be as accessible as possible and therefore tickets are completely free and all will be BSL interpreted. Each event will have its own focus and must be booked in advance:
- Wednesday 10 September – is focussed on freelance creatives from the region
- Wednesday 17 September – is focussed on creative companies
- Wednesday 24 September – is focussed on the communities of Birmingham and the West Midlands
- Wednesday 1 October – is an online town hall for those who can’t attend in person
