Bearwood Promoters are celebrating International Women’s Day with headliners MeMe Detroit, supported by Glass Ceilings, at Bear Grooves on 6th March, from 8pm, at The Bear Tavern.
Brum’s ‘Queen of Grunge’ MeMe Detroit, who stormed onto the Birmingham music scene with her debut album, Live to Love You’ll Love to Live, in 2016 headlines: “If you like your sleazy grunge guitar-style bangers laden with riffs and a whole lot of melody, then that’s us…” Frontwoman Maria Rodriguez and her band are known for their high octane, fully immersive shows, full of grit, sass and energy. Don’t miss this chance to see one of our most gifted local talents.
Rising stars Glass Ceilings, one of Counteract’s ‘20 local artists tipped for greatness in 2020’, formed in Solihull in 2017, and cite influences from Catfish and the Bottlemen and Arctic Monkeys, to Two Door Cinema Club and The 1975. The indie four-piece headlined sell-out gigs at The Sunflower Lounge and Hare and Hounds last year on a tour that took their infectious melodies and tight vocals to Manchester, Liverpool and Bristol. They’ll be performing new single ‘I Don’t Mind’ on 6th March, a tune that’s already received rave reviews.
Esther Titchen, Bearwood Promoters, says:
“It’s always been important for us to showcase female bands, and with the timing of this month’s gig it made perfect sense to celebrate International Women’s Day with two bands fronted by talented women.”
“Bearwood Promoters is 50% female run and we are proud to champion diverse, grass roots music at all of our events, something that the wider industry often fails to do.”
