With anticipation continuing to rise for 2025’s Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival (Friday 11 to Sunday 13 July 2025), organisers have now revealed the line-up for The Woods.
While the Birmingham festival’s main stages host such A-listers as Maribou State (Friday), War (Saturday) and Ezra Collective (Sunday), and The Leftfoot Stage presents a programme of non-stop music with DJs Erol Alkan, Fila Brazilla, DDQ, Dave Lee (JN) and more, The Woods offers Mostly Jazz-goers a very different experience.
Set within the urban park’s trees, The Woods welcomes takeovers from Deano Ferrino (Friday) and Selexterhood (Sunday), while a packed Saturday promises appearances from Groove Atomique, and a celebration of De La Soul’s seminal 1989 album 3 Feet High And Rising from T-Bird.
Mostly Jazz’s second day will also see a series of special walkabout performances by some of the best musicians from the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO), whose members represent the next generation of jazz talent.
Meanwhile, for families, there’s MiniMixer DJ Workshops (Sat, Sun) where future David Guetta’s can learn their trade, and a bound to be boisterous 90 minute Mostly Jazz Family Hip Hop Party (Sat) with block rockin’ tunes, bubbles and crafts.
The festival also includes a series of dance workshops suitable for all-ages covering funk, bhangra, swing and flamenco, and the return of the Dead Pixels Gaming Caravan, for those addictive retro games vibes.
John Fell, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival’s Manager, said: “We have some amazing artists set for our main stages – Ezra Collective, War, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, Jalen Ngonda and MRCY as well as DJ sets from Groove Armada, Goldie, Craig Charles, Somewhere Soul, Wonder 45 and Sam Redmore. But nestled amongst Moseley Park’s trees, The Woods offers visitors something of a getaway – it’s a little oasis, with it’s own unique energy.”
Having recently issued a ‘Limited Tickets’ warning for the festival, John adds: “Ninety per cent of Weekend Tickets have now sold, and Day Tickets – especially for the Sunday – are running seriously low, so if you’re considering coming, we’d strongly recommend buying now to avoid any disappointment.”
In addition to The Woods news, the festival has also now made available the full schedule for the three day event online, allowing festival-goers to check times for all the artists and activities, and plan their visit.
Based at Moseley Park and Pool, in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival runs from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 July 2025. For more information, including tickets, see: mostlyjazz.co.uk
