National burger joint honour vegan icon ‘Parm-ela Anderson’ as Veganuary returns!

  • It’s lights, ‘Parm-ela’, action… at Fat Hippo this January as their brand new Veganuary special is ready for its close up!
  • Celebrating all things plant-based, national restaurant chain Fat Hippo have added a brand new burger special to their already generous vegan offering!
  • Paying homage to vegan icon Pamela Anderson, a dedicated vegan who has opted for a plant-based diet for over 30 years, and inspired by an Italian parma, this beauty has all of the flavour, none of the meat (or make-up!)
  • Guaranteed to make waves in the vegan world, the ‘Parm-ela Anderson’ burger will be available from January 3rd ’til 31st , exclusively at all 18 locations across the UK, as well as Just Eat, UberEats and Deliveroo and on their in-house Click + Collect service.

We won’t ask the first thought that comes to mind when you hear the name Pamela Anderson, but having led a dedicated plant-based diet for over 30 years now, she has well established herself as a vegan icon. Which is exactly what national restaurant chain Fat Hippo thought made her the perfect muse for their limited edition Veganuary special, the ‘Parm-ela Anderson’.

Looking like something that could be seen on the cover of Vegan Vogue, they’re promising a special that tastes as real as it looks (without any make-up!). Inspired by an Italian parma, this meatless marvel boasts layers of crispy plant-based Southern fried chkn, creamy tomato vodka sauce, grilled vegan mozzarella, tangy garlic pesto mayo, strutting its stuff alongside a rocket, basil, red onion and balsamic salad in an Italian garlic buttered brioche, served with a sidekick of Garlic Butter Fries.

Only working with the highest quality ingredients, Fat Hippo enlisted the help of Miami Foods, one of their existing trusted suppliers to curate the Parm-ela, using their Louisiana Chick’n® patty, the very same that is used in the best-selling Notorious VFC burger. Established in 2018, Miami Foods’ aim was to make vegan patties as healthy as possible. In addition to no cholesterol or palm oil, they focused primarily on reducing saturated fats, which they confidently say is more than 5 times lower in their patties than that of competitors on the market.

Fat Hippo Operations Director, Michael Johnson said; “Our vegan offering is something we’ve spent a great deal of time crafting and perfecting. Taking a ‘no compromise’ approach, we’ve carefully curated each of our vegan burgers from the ground up. Not wanting to settle at just ‘switching a patty’, we’ve taken time to source the most innovative ingredients on the vegan market and staying on top of trends. Who knows… this might even be the best one yet!”

Keen to ensure you can enjoy their food in a way that suits you, Fat Hippo are no strangers to the plant-based market. First launching their exclusive vegan range back in 2018, they now have a firmly established permanent plant-based offering. This includes a wide range of burgers, sides and sauces all vegan as standard, as well as shakes and desserts that can all be made so on request. Their in-house signature beers have had their processes adapted to be certified vegan, as well as many of the beers and wines they stock all year round.

With an estimated 36% of those taking part in Veganuary this year predicted to remain vegan, your plant-based era starts now! The Parm-ela Anderson and Garlic Butter Fries will be available from January 3rd ’til 31st, exclusively at all 18 Fat Hippo locations across the UK, as well as Just Eat, UberEats and Deliveroo and on their in-house Click + Collect service.
