UK’s Largest Sake & Shochu Activation: National Sake Week 2024 Unveils Exciting Events Across the Country

UK – March 17th, 2024 – National Sake Week 2024, the UK’s biggest celebration of Japanese Sake and Shochu, is set to take the nation by storm from April 15th to 21st, offering an unparalleled array of events and experiences for enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The week-long extravaganza will feature a multitude of events spanning various cities, showcasing the richness and diversity of Japanese sake culture. Spearheaded by renowned sake expert Samuel Boulton, National Sake Week promises to be an immersive journey into the world of Japanese beverages.

National Sake Week 2024 aims to engage 50 bars and restaurants, 30 brand/import partners, and host 25 events across the UK, creating a nationwide celebration of Japanese drinking culture, bars and restaurants across the UK, from Edinburgh to Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, and London, will be showcasing sake in cocktails, pairings, and flights. Patrons can expect innovative concoctions highlighting the versatility of sake in mixology, as well as curated flights and expert pairings to enhance their dining experiences.

One of the highlights of the week will be the Mai X La Fromagerie Cheese & Sake event, hosted at La Fromagerie Marylebone in London. Attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in a special tasting session of sake paired with artisan cheese, guided by senior cheesemongers Max, alongside international kikisake-shi sommelier, Erika Haigh.

Additionally, the Kanpai Sake Brewery Cocktail Party, featuring guest bartender Samuel Boulton, author of “The Art of Mixing Koji Cocktails,” promises a fusion of Japanese tradition and modern mixology with curated Koji-inspired cocktails at Kanpai Sake Brewery in London.

Birmingham will host the exclusive “Barrels of Japan” event at Grain & Glass, offering guests an immersive experience into Japanese craftsmanship, and the traditional artistry of wood barrels and aging techniques unique to Japan.

Further, in Birmingham, Sushido will present a special Mango and crispy breaded prawn roll accompanied by Fukukomachi “Gentle Breeze” Junmai Ginjō. Meanwhile, at Utilita Arena, guests can enjoy a Sushi and Sake paired lunch, curated by the newly opened Japanese live music venue, Mooncat.

JÖRO in Sheffield will host the Wortley Wagyu Tasting Menu, an exclusive collaboration with Tengu Sake and local supplier & farmer, Jake Tue of Wortley Wagyu, offering a unique Wagyu Signature tasting menu alongside optional sake-focused drinks pairing.
