New Indo-Chinese specials at Bundobust

Some thoroughly delicious new Indo-Chinese specials landed at Bundobust Birmingham on Monday.

The Indo-Chinese specials roll around but once a year and are a highlight in the Bundo calendar. This limited-edition menu has a cult following in the North and this year Birmingham gets these specials (inspired by Kolkata’s Chinatown) for the very first time.

From 4th March to 14th April, guests at Bundobust can tickle their taste buds with:

  • Gobi Toast – a veggie take on prawn toast that sees crispy fried toasts topped with garlic, ginger, and minced cauliflower, finished with a sesame seed crust, served with a Szechuan mayo dipping sauce.
  • Corn Ribs – corn is deep-fried until crunchy, before being tossed in a gochujang, miso, tamarind, and five-spice dressing.
  • Salt & Pepper Okra Fries – this cheeky little number takes the #1 Bundo dish down the Chinese chippy – crispy Okra Fries are tossed in a chilli salt & pepper seasoning, with peppers, onion, and soy sauce.
  • Chow Chow – this half-rice-half-noodle stir fry is cooked hard and fast with seasonal veg and soy dressing, before being topped with caramelised garlic and Desi chilli crisp.
  • Chilli Paneer – paneer is cooked till crispy in a light batter before being tossed with peppers and onions in a spicy and sweet chilli honey dressing.
  • Gobi Manchurian – cauliflower and mushroom pakoras tossed in an umami-hot sauce.
  • Indo-Chinese Combo for 2 – all the special dishes to share, plus Bundo fortune cookies (there’s prizes to be won)!
  • Chokha – a supremely dry and crisp rice lager brewed with extra light malts and rice, alongside fruity and floral hops.
  • Jasmine Eastside – gin, jasmine green tea, ginger, cucumber, and lemon served long over ice.
  • Sesame & Ginger Old Fashioned – stirred with house made sesame-infused Buffalo Trace bourbon, rice syrup and ginger.
