Oktoberfest at Bundobust Birmingham

Some things just work together. Indian street food and craft beer. German food and cold lagers in the last
sunny days of September. It’s time, once again, for the cultural mash-up of the year. This Oktoberfest,
Bundobust are dusting off their Lederhosen, shaking the spice rack over a range of German classic dishes,
and brewing some world class beers to pair with them. Available exclusively in Bundobust venues, the
limited edition Oktoberfest specials will be available from Friday 15th September until Sunday 15th
October.

THE FOOD

First up, we have the return of the iconic Bundo Pretzel (£4.50). This collaboration with esteemed Boltonbased Bavarian bakery, Pretzel & Spelt, sees the handmade pretzels spiced with garam masala and
turmeric, flecked with ajwain seeds, black salt, and mango powder. Served with currywurst dip and house
pickles, the Bundo Pretzel pairs perfectly with a Bundobar! black lager.

Bundobust chefs tackle the German institution of currywurst with Currywurst Koftas (£7.50). Desi
dumplings of cauliflower, cabbage and carrot are served with a classic currywurst sauce charged with garam masala and a dusting of curry powder.

Another twist on German tradition comes in the form of Moong & Sauerkraut Fritters (£5.50). Fried
ground lentil, gherkin and sauerkraut dumplings spiced with parsley, caraway, chilli, and ginger. Served
with a sweet cinnamon and jaggery apple sauce dip.

Fresh crunch comes in the form of Prost Pickles (£4) offering a medley of heritage carrot, mooli radish,
turnip and cauliflower pickled with mustard, chilli, dill, and peppercorns. These are perfectly complimented by Bundobust’s Bataka Salat (£5.50) – a German-Indian potato salad. Purple and new
potatoes are combined with dill, curried sour cream, tamarind chutney and crunchy samosa pastry.
For those who can’t decide what to order, Bundobust have curated an Oktoberfest Combo for 2 (£35),
featuring Currywurst Koftas, Moong & Sauerkraut Fritters, Prost Pickles and Bataka Salat, served
alongside the iconic Okra Fries and Chole Saag.

THE DRINKS

Traditionally Oktoberfest is all about the beer with the six designated breweries in Munich brewing official
beers for the festival. Bundobust’s head brewer, Dan Hocking, looked to his Bavarian counterparts when
planning Bundobust Brewery’s offering for their festival. Bundobar! is a German-style Schwarzbier, or
Black Lager, showcasing heritage Munich and Vienna Malts. It’s deep roasted flavour playfully tempers
the spices from the kitchen, with the smooth lager conditioning creating a beer that is both complex and
refreshing.

Bundobust Brewery have also visited British lager heavyweights, Braybrooke, to brew a collaboration
Pilsner for the festival. Night Market Pils epitomises what the two brewers look for in German beer styles
– clarity of flavour, a crisp pallet, and ultimate refreshment.

The Bundobust fridges will also be filled with a selection of German beers, from staff favourites Tegenseer
Helles to official Oktoberfest beers from Munich.

For those who aren’t looking for a beer, Bundobust have sourced Fritz Willi – a deliciously irreverent
modern Riesling which pairs perfectly with their German-inspired pots. And the Oktoberfest spirit will
be out in true force when guests try Bundo Schnapps – a spiced Apple & Mango nod to the German post dinner drink. Prost!

Bundobust venues are warmly welcoming to all – walk-ins are always welcome, but bookings can be made
