Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter to Host Second Annual Park(ing) Day – A Creative Call to Rethink Urban Spaces
Date of Event: 19th September 2025
Location: Caroline Street, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
Following the overwhelming success of Birmingham’s first-ever Park(ing) Day in 2024, the event is returning this September.
Park(ing) Day is a global and annual event that temporarily transforms ordinary parking spaces into vibrant, creative, and green public spaces for people instead of a single vehicle. It’s a celebration of imagination and sustainability, showing how even the smallest urban spaces can serve the broader needs of the community.
This year, the event will take place in the heart of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, a neighbourhood renowned for its heritage, craftsmanship, and, most recently, its recognition as a World Craft City.
The event, organised by Define in partnership with the Jewellery Quarter BID, will focus on transforming 6 parking bays along Caroline Street into creative parklets. Each space will offer a unique story, from green oases and artistic installations to community seating and interactive displays. As a nod to the historic setting, we will also be hosting a specific “Maker’s Space” for local Jewellery Quarter makers and creators to showcase their craft and/or trade. A schedule of events will be released in due course.
Organisers are currently inviting local businesses, artists, and residents to get involved. Whether through designing a parklet, volunteering, or simply attending the event, there are many ways to be part of this global movement for greener and more inclusive public spaces.
