Rebel Chicken 1st Birthday Review

I cannot believe a year has passed since the Rebel Chicken first opened its doors.

Last Saturday was a great opportunity to head down, check out the new beer garden and revel in the Rebel’s winner winner chicken wings and a beefy burger – oh and a pint!

The new garden is a really relaxing space, you could almost imagine yourself in Jamaica with the sun shining down on the guests as they arrived for food & drink.

It’s very rustic but in a cool quirky way, with body parts strewn around the walls, quite bizarre but funky. There’s a huge TV screen for sports events or music shows I presume? Which will work very well here. It’s hidden away but you are drawn in from the street with the alley way beckoning people in with flowers and signage.

The chicken was crunchy on the outside and succulent meat, which fell off the bone, all crunched up with the VERY mouth smackingly sticky Honey & Soy sauce..

I ordered a The Cheese & Bacon burger which was adorned with smoked bacon, and melting Gorgonzola cheese on top of a hand made burger which deliciously crumbled into my mouth. The cheese wrapped around the beef as if a comfort blanket, that was about to be devoured heartlessly. I really wholeheartedly rate the Rebel Burgers, I have had the Buttermilk Chicken Yard Burger twice now and this Cheese & Bacon just sealed the deal.

Where to start with the wings? Just wow! I exchanged my fries for three of The Rebel Wings with Honey & soy coating, which were to die for. Again, as wings go, i think these probably are the best I have ever tried. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and succulent meat, which fell off the bone, all crunched up with the VERY mouth smackingly sticky Honey & Soy sauce, if you want to impress a date I suggest taking some baby wipes, or quickly eating when they go to the loo. I want these again without hesitation.

The sun shone down, people began to take their seats and the food & drink flowed to the sound track of chilled reggae vibes. DJs will be playing too in summer months. If you are yet to try this little gem, do so and allow some time, it’s a relaxed environment!

As a side note, the Rebel have also now launched a new brunch menu which includes a sumptuous breakfast board, merguez sausage and bacon sandwiches, eggs benedict, royale and florentine, and The Rebel’s Bloody Mary. Check out he full menu here.

Eat delicious carefully prepared fresh food, drink from an extensive array of spirits or beers on tap, relax, dance and party in Jewellery Quarter’s best known suntrap.
